Allied health sciences is a large group of qualified professionals who use scientific principles that are evidence-based for diagnosing, evaluating, and treating chronic and acute diseases of patients. They work to promote the prevention of diseases and improvement of health and wellness of their affected patients.

Allied healthcare Bill 2020

The National Commission formed for Allied and Healthcare Professions Bill in 2020 was instigated in the Rajya Sabha Dr. Harsh Vardhan (Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Earth Sciences) on the 15th of September 2020. Bill's purpose is to make education on the subject of allied and healthcare professionals a standard practice.

  8. Orthoptists: Orthoptists mainly deal with children and conditions including retinopathy, diabetes, etc. 
  9. Osteopaths: Osteopaths work on conditions centred around non-invasive treatments like skeleton, ligaments, muscles, etc
  10. Paramedics: The ambulance services at a higher level who rush to emergency sites immediately are paramedics.
  11. Physiotherapists: The use of physical approaches to help cure Musculoskeletal, neuro-muscular and such conditions are Physiotherapists.
  12. Prosthetists and Orthotists: Prosthetics helps patients who have had to amputate limbs or legs and replicate them with prosthetics. Orthotists are practitioners treat neuro-muscular and skeletal conditions.
  13. Radiographers: Diagnostic Radiographers provide images of severe injuries and various diseases like ultrasound, Breast Screening, etc. Therapeutic Radiographers treat cancer through surgery or chemotherapy.
  14. Speech and language therapists: SLT’s support young children and adults to overcome severe speech or language difficulties.
